Senior Pilot Plant Technician at Dow

About You and This Role:

This role is for a Senior Pilot Plant Technician at the Polyolefins Process R&D facility in South Charleston, WV. In this role, you will work as part of a Team to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the pilot plant facility through specialty maintenance and project support.
This role required that you gain proficiency through on-the-job training and experience. You need either deep skills in this discipline or knowledge of a range of processes, procedures, and systems. You also need a broad understanding of the job and know how to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks. You should understand how your team works with others to accomplish objectives and be able to exchange detailed, complicated information with other team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and support project work including piping and tubing system design, specification and fabrication
  • Prepares isometrics of new systems to facilitate management of material securement and fabrication
  • Write SWP's and perform lock out/tag out, mentors lower level technicians on the use of these standards
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List (e.g. Field checks, equipment preparation, etc.)
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • Participates in Root Cause Investigations
  • Leads the overhaul of critical project equipment including high speed Sundyne compressor, Bran+Luebbe positive displacement pumps, and Goulds water pumps.
  • Uses mechanical knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant reliability performance by identification of plant improvement
  • Performs process equipment troubleshooting, repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
  • Supports plant turn arounds and special projects.
  • Trains other technicians on the makeup of tubing and pipe fittings
  • Completes all assigned training per facility training plan


Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of high school diploma.
  • A minimum of 10 years chemical plant and  25 years overall industrial maintenance experience supporting piping and tubing design and installation.
  • A minimum of 5 years rebuilding and overhauling of Sundyne LMV or LMC-311 compressors.
  •  A minimum of 5 years rebuilding and overhauling of Bran+Luebbe positive displacement pumps.
  • A minimum of 10 years of rigging and lift signaling experience.
  • Trained and certified to operate mobile man lift equipment such as JLG.
  • A minimum of 5 years in preparing piping, valve and material specification and takeoffs.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Prefer Skills:

  • Pipe fitter instructor trainer certification is preferred.
