About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Analytical Technician supporting the Hydrocarbons Lab at our Oyster Creek, TX site.

Supports manufacturing operations by conducting laboratory analyses, as needed, which provide critical data. Prepares samples, performs preventive maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and uses data systems to acquire data. Reports results to the client. Requires established basic laboratory skills to perform a range of routine lab activities using existing standard operating procedures and/or analytical/ scientific methods.

 

You are a team player, have good prioritization and organizational skills, and demonstrate competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness. You present technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and network with colleagues across the organization.
  • Ability to manage time and work schedule efficiently.
  • Performing routine analysis using core analytical technologies (e.g. gas chromatography, ion chromatography, titrations, etc.) and the ability to review and interpret results.
  • Perform instrument quality checks, identify problems, perform first level troubleshooting and escalate problems as appropriate.
  • Understand and execute procedures, policies, and work processes, including Environmental Health & Safety, Operating Discipline Management Systems (ODMS), quality procedures, and AWP (Analytical Work Process).
  • Document, communicate, and archive results using appropriate lab information management software and electronic tools.
  • Escalates non-routine requests to appropriate team member for follow-up.

 

Requirements

  •  A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED/equivalent and one of the following items: 2 or more years of laboratory, manufacturing or other related experience, an Associate Degree or higher in an Applied Science OR 3+ years of relevant Military experience/training.
  • Work overtime and holidays as needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
     

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Applied Science or related field.
  • Experience with electronic analytical tools (such as ChemStation, LIMS, etc.).
  • Experience with analytical disciplines such as Chromatography, Spectroscopy, titrations, and physical property testing.

Additional Notes

  • No relocation assistance is available for this position.

 

Physical Demands

  • Lift, push, and pull.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Stand 50% of the time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Follow safety rules, including safe chemical handling and wearing required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety eyewear, footwear, lab coats, protective gloves.
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.
