About the LME and LME Clear:

The London Metal Exchange (LME) and LME Clear form the world centre for industrial metals trading and clearing, with the majority of all non-ferrous metal futures business transacted on our platforms. In 2022, 134.2 million lots were traded and cleared, equating to $15.2 trillion and 3.1 billion tonnes notional, with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots.

The metals community uses the LME and LME Clear platforms to transfer or take on price risk, for clearing and settlement services, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.

About the Regulation and Compliance Department:

The LME Group Regulation and Compliance department combines – amongst other things - the functions of regulation, compliance and government affairs across the LME and LME Clear.  The department is responsible for:

• Regulation and Compliance Advisory: Ensuring the LME and LME Clear remain compliant with all relevant regulations and maintaining a strong and collaborative ongoing relationship with all relevant regulatory bodies including the Bank of England, the FCA, and the various overseas authorities.

• Compliance: Working across departments to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks, develop and monitor compliance with policies and provide staff training.

• Government Affairs: Working with policy makers globally to ensure forthcoming policy represents best practice and the most effective and appropriate oversight of both exchanges and CCPs.

About the role:

We are looking for a regulatory professional to support the CCP Compliance team. You will work closely with the LME Clear Chief Compliance Officer and Regulatory Specialists to ensure the CCP remains compliant with all relevant regulations in the UK and abroad.  This will involve working closely with the business, and the Bank of England, to ensure all initiatives are appropriately considered from a regulatory perspective and forward looking “horizon scanning” to ensure we are aware of – and suitably engaged in the development of - new regulations relevant to the CCP. 

Required Knowledge and Level of Experience:

You will bring experience in a relevant regulatory role and demonstrable experience of dealing directly with regulatory authorities. 

An ability to to deal with and influence a wide range of stakeholders of varying levels of experience and seniority will be critical.

Any knowledge and understanding of the forward looking regulatory policy agenda for CCPs and/or understand how the policy making process works will be extremely useful.
