Reactor Engineering is accountable for the component design, substantiation and safety case of most components comprising the reactor assembly.  This includes the core, core structures, CRDMs, and the reactor assembly itself.  The department skills include design, physics, performance, materials, and structural integrity

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will be leading a team of 40 to 60 nuclear component design engineers.

• Managing wellbeing, recruitment, team structure, absence, and performance.
• Delegated authority for governance and document approval.
• Delivering engineering design for reactor assembly and CRDMs.
• Delivering component safety cases for reactor assembly and CRDMs.
• Being accountable for cost, quality, and delivery of the team.
• Providing technical and strategic direction on projects in scope.
• Providing support and advice on the component throughout the CADMID cycle.
• Collaborating with the integrity and performance engineering managers to manage the component safety case and product safety process.
• Collaborating with the other engineering managers and the Heads of Capability to maintain and develop team capability.
• Role model for Rolls-Royce values and behaviours.

Who we are looking for:

• Educated to degree level in engineering or other appropriate technical discipline.
• Ideally completed the NSSC or equivalent course.
• Member of a recognised UK engineering institution.
• Previous experience of leading large engineering teams to meet challenging business goals.
• Broad range of engineering skills and experience, especially in NSRP design, development and manufacture.
• Excellent communicator with proven record on employee engagement and stakeholder management.
• Understanding of Intellectual Property and Export Control requirements.
• Understanding of product safety management processes.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
