The Role:

Decisioning systems are at the heart of our business. They handle many areas of our business including lending, customer support and collections functions. As part of our ambitious growth plans, we have designed and developed our own decision engine. This allows us to implement complex lending strategies across our suite of products and utilise advanced ML techniques to improve them. The engine is the brain of our business and central to making our products successful and driving the go to market strategies. 

We are looking for someone to join our decision system engineering team, working with key stakeholders to improve and add to the engine capability.

Responsibilities

• We are looking someone who can work closely within a multi-disciplinary group of people to solve problems aligned to the key business goals. In particular:  
• You will be given specific tasks to solve that require programming, data analysis and management skills and expansive problem-solving skills.
• You will be expected to remain curious about the technological innovations happening internationally and seek to understand what can be best applied to the business problems faced.
• Work in an Agile framework to deliver consistent, measurable value to the company.
• Bring your strategic understanding of technology to the table when solutions are discussed – including those being run by other teams in the business.
• Build a high level of trust and confidence with stakeholders in relation to their knowledge of the technical issues at hand and of the proposed solutions.
• You will be expected to integrate with and support a range of teams throughout the business  .
• Take ownership and responsibility.

Requirements

The skills you'll need 

• Coding expertise and experience:  Java experience is an essential requirement, additional coding experience in Python and in HTML/CSS/JS are advantageous.

• Analytical mindset and proven skills in delivering analytical, measurement and reporting outputs.

• Experience with cloud providers – ideally AWS and experience with the standard AWS solutions

• Data analytics expertise – skilled with SQL, graph databases, NoSql and with an understanding of the pros and cons of which tool to use when.

• Data optimisation expertise – understanding of data structures, speed enhancers and data wrangling.

• Broad strategic understanding of the modern technology environment

• Ability to work with others to solve problems.

• Self-Motivated

• Excellent communication skills – especially as regards explaining challenging technical concepts to non-technical audiences

• Empathetic, grounded, logical and objective; able to follow through on difficult tasks. 

Education 

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
