About the Role
As an Application Support Engineer you will join the Ops team at BMLL, responsible for all production operations. Every day our proprietary applications consume 250GB of new data across 750,000 securities to deliver into our platform, our dashboard products and data services. These are accessed by our customers who are dependent on our services for their own workflows.
The Ops team's mission is to monitor these production applications and to make sure our daily batch jobs complete in a timely manner. Using our detailed knowledge of these data pipelines, we troubleshoot any potential production issues, and escalate to relevant teams internally and externally.
In this role you will be working with a modern tech stack, entirely hosted in AWS, using Python, Apache Airflow, Splunk and Snowflake. We use Jira for all task tracking.
Responsibilities
Monitor and make sure daily batch jobs complete in a timely manner.
Take ownership of customer issues; diagnose, troubleshoot, identify solutions and see problems through to resolution.
Manage production incidents and escalate issues to the appropriated Dev teams.
Build and maintain custom reports and monitoring dashboards.
Prepare accurate and timely reports.
Document knowledge in the form of knowledge base tech notes and articles.
Occasional weekend work will be required with this role.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
MUST have Understanding/Experiences in scripting languages such Python or Shell/BASH.
Experience working within a similar Application support position dealing with production critical batch systems
Strong knowledge in cloud computing (AWS)
Good understanding of an incident management process
Understanding Unix/Linux environment
Understanding of SQL database systems
Worked with network monitoring and data analytics tools like Splunk
