The Role
This position will be responsible for tax compliance and managing all tax issues for the Group in the assigned region.
Job Responsibilities
Provide oversight for tax compliance matters and work with external consultants to perform tax compliance filings for various North American jurisdictions.
Provide advice / oversight on all tax matters including day-to-day tax planning and advisory / operational business support, review of commercial contracts and cross-border transactions, tax reporting, taxation due diligence on expansion opportunities, M&A tax advice, and transfer pricing.
Give tax technical support to regional and local finance teams and business units within the Group.
Monitor and analyze the impact of proposed and newly enacted tax legislation on the business in the relevant jurisdiction.
Identify tax efficient opportunities and assist with all aspects of tax strategy management, business acquisition and restructuring initiatives, tax efficient structuring and mitigation of tax risks.
Support the tax provisioning process for the finance tax team.
Manage and coach junior colleagues.
REIT testing includes completing REIT testing on time after each quarter-end and calculating/reviewing withholding tax for any REIT distribution and monitoring TRS (Taxable REIT subsidiary) activities.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy or its’ equivalent or any professional accounting qualifications.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in tax with excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and tax returns.
- You should be meticulous, independent and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Candidates who have exposure to International Tax will have added advantage.

Prior experience within a Real Estate Tax background, specifically working with REITs and 1120-REIT, would be advantageous.

Candidates with Certified Public Accountant qualifications, MS in Taxation, MS in Accounting and/or Tax LLM or “Big 4” accounting firm experience will have an added advantage.
