WHAT TO EXPECT

The Formed in Place Product role is to lead the application & development of Formed in Place (FIP) materials used for Powertrain applications with the purpose to improve assured quality of the Formed In Place products to meet design intent requirements – Examples of Formed in Place Products include sealing, adhesives, thermal interface material, anti-thermal propagation materials etc.

Under the guidance of the Technical Specialist, you will be working with teams in different areas of the business including Product Design, Prototype Manufacturing, Production Manufacturing & Material engineering teams to provide application & development support.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Failure Mode Avoidance - Creation and maintenance of the foundation DFMEAs for each of the generic formed in Place uses (Overseal, gaskets, Thermal Interface Gap fillers and Adhesive) types used within Powertrain Major Units
• To prepare and maintain supporting documentation for external and internal quality audits.
• Technical Knowledge – Creation and Updates to Foundation documentation for Formed in Place Materials, including Engineering Standards, Design rules, Test cases and Test procedures.
• Prevent recurrence – Ongoing review of AIMS and Warranty projects to ensure learning is captured in foundation documentation to prevent issues reoccurring.
• Mentorship and coaching of component engineers when reviewing formed in place interfaces.
• Technical compliance assessment at programme gateways.
• Teardown Analysis Guidelines including procedures for accessing, assessing and rating the formed in place interfaces at end of test.
• Benchmarking through reviewing competitor’s solutions or through regular meetings with supplier technical specialists.
• Technical support to Product Design, Purchasing, Prototype and Manufacturing Engineering teams for Formed in Place Material selection, handling, dispense, verification and validation.
• Leadership of major issues resolution using 8D/DMAIC for issues related to formed in Place products.

• You must have the ability to build effective working relationships across different business areas & locations.
