JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: The Purchasing Clerk – Raw Materials is responsible for accurately fulfilling requests for purchases and administering the detailed purchasing process from order placement to order received in accordance with company best practices.  They will also be responsible for controlling the inventories in various plants of raw materials by Brakebush purchasing standards.  This position communicates directly with all levels of employees within the company and our vendors/suppliers. 

Essential Functions:

• Supports the procurement process by creating and issuing purchase orders, scheduling deliveries, maintaining knowledge of inventory levels, ensuring on time package arrival, tracking backorders, and verifying the billed amount with goods received.
• Ensures that our vendors/suppliers are always treated in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Reviews and controls inventories of raw materials.
• Provides back-up support for the Purchasing Associate or other Purchasing Clerks as needed. 

Required Qualifications:

• Able to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
• Strong organizational skills; verbal and written communication skills; math skills; analytical mindset and attention to detail
• Must be competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration or equivalent is highly preferred.
• IBP and S4Hanna (SAP- Finance) experience is highly preferred.

• One or more years of experience working in a purchasing role; with demonstrated knowledge of purchasing principles and practices.
• Prior experience working in the food/manufacturing industry is helpful.
• Knowledge of inventory management
• Knowledge of SAP software

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: Office environment.  Subject to extended periods of sitting, working on PC and talking on telephone.  

Physical Demands: This position would be primarily sitting with little to no lifting or other physical demands.

Position Type: Salaried non-exempt, primarily 1st shift, 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Hours may vary as needed.

Travel: Opportunities for travel may arise but are infrequent.
