Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking to expand our footprint in the UK and Europe, and we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Commercial Manager to help accelerate our growth. You will be our first dedicated Commercial hire in the region and will bring finessed Business Development expertise to our London based team. 

We’re working with leaders in the energy transition who are either investing in energy transition projects directly or supporting their clients to do so, this includes Consultants, Suppliers, Project Developers and Fleets Solutions providers. Throughout our sales process we engage with people of varying seniority from C-Suite/Partner through to Junior Analyst. You will be able to quickly build rapport with our clients and prospects, have an understanding of the GB energy industry and therefore be empathetic to some of the challenges our clients face.

What you’ll do as a Commercial Manager:

  • Work with our clients and prospects to demonstrate how Gridcog’s software can help simplify and accelerate their investment in the energy transition (i.e. in battery storage, renewable energy or e-mobility).
  • Be responsible for customer acquisition against agreed company targets. This includes managing and qualifying a pipeline of opportunities, targeting specific client accounts and converting opportunities to pilots and then onto ongoing subscriptions. 
  • Act as an ambassador for our customers and prospects internally. This includes creating account development plans to drive commercial outcomes and sharing customer/market insights with our product management team. 
  • Build your personal brand in the GB energy industry by attending events and supporting Gridcog marketing activity including contributing to our thought leadership content (e.g. videos, blogs, speaking at events).
  • Manage customer contracting processes including 'vendor onboarding' for new customer contracts.
  • Contribute to and maintain disciplined go-to-market commercial processes (including updating CRM and iterating on go-to-market strategies).
  • Act as part of a team, supporting your colleagues globally in pursuit of company wide goals.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated success in a business development/origination role in the GB or European energy industry including building and nurturing a technical sales pipeline.
  • Technical knowledge in or more of the following areas: wholesale energy markets, renewable energy and battery storage project development, or e-mobility projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a strong sense of customer empathy; you build strong and enduring relationships with your clients.
  • Ambition, energy and commercial drive. You will be comfortable in ambiguity and willing to get stuck in, Gridcog is a dynamic startup environment.

We’d also love it if you have:

  • A strong personal brand in the GB energy industry, especially if this is in the B2B/Industrial and Commercial space.
  • Demonstrated success in a SaaS based commercial environment, closing B2B deals with six figure ARR values.
  • Engaging and persuasive writing and presentation prowess.
  • Fluency in a second European language. 
  • Experience working in a startup, SaaS business or high growth company.
