The Outside event services team is seeking a dynamic Marketing Lead. The Marketing Lead is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to build and promote our own event services brands and our client’s events. This critical role requires close partnership with teams across the organization to ensure both our branding and execution remains strong, clear, and impactful.

You will work in close collaboration with division leadership, account management, product, editorial, email marketing, and sales teams to identify opportunities that increase engagement among our event directors, participants, prospective participants, prospective event director clients, and the broader Outside audience. You’ll drive our marketing efforts from planning and management to reporting. This will include a mix of email creation, copy writing and editing, as well as collaboration with internal advertising and sales partners. The right person for this role will be a highly organized and enthusiastic storyteller who can drive growth.

Within 1 month, you will:

• Become conversant with Outside Event Services solutions for online registration (athleteReg) and photography (FinisherPix)
• Establish points of contact with Outside Inc. marketing and editorial teams for alignment on promoting team and company initiatives
• Work with Account Management and clients to understand what drives growth in their events and uncover where they need more support
• Work with Outside’s CRM team to administer several event-focused newsletters, including content curation, implementation, and performance review and recommendations

Within 6 months, you will:

• Develop and manage new email marketing campaigns targeted at Event Directors and partners
• Help implement cost effective brand marketing campaigns for event services platforms that drives interest from current and prospective clients
• Uncover opportunities to engage clients with new tools, strategies, and promotions that increase our profitability and the profitability and success of the event
• Work with account management to facilitate more exposure for key clients via newsletters, editorial, advertising, and engagement reporting
• Own and drive our customer education via email, blog, webinars, and other content
• Create an event growth template including email marketing cadence and work with product and account management to productize and roll out scale.
• Conduct market research and leverage data and insights to inform effective brand development and creative strategies that will connect with consumers

Within 12 months, you will:

• Stay well-informed on industry trends related to brand and event marketing best practices across traditional and digital media
• Plan and coordinate occasional activations at festivals, expos, and conferences
• Drive annual initiatives such as industry trend reports in collaboration with editorial and sales team
• Create annual plan for new event director acquisition opportunities
• Draft and own quarterly marketing plans, adjusting for past tactical performances

What you Bring to Outside

• Highly organized with a keen eye for detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of email marketing best practices and experience with email marketing platforms.
• Experience in the cycling, running or endurance sports industry is a plus but not required.
• Experience working with events on growth, marketing, partnerships, or communications
• Continually seeks self-improvement and develops new skills, stays updated on best practices in content marketing.
• Proficiency in content management systems including HubSpot or other CRM
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, related field or directly applicable experience.
• 5+ years of experience in content marketing, copywriting, social media marketing, community management or a related role.

For remote jobs that could potentially be in Boulder, Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $69,000 to $86,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and many more. The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of California if selected for this role, and may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
