Job Descrption
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative individual to assist in expanding our subscription e-commerce enterprise. As a Box Buyer/Curator, you will tackle a diverse array of responsibilities, overseeing all aspects of the purchasing process from conception to delivery.
This role is far from ordinary buying positions. Our team sources and buys multiple distinct Boxes each month, reaching a significant customer base. The Box Buyer/Curator will have substantial creative control over the selection of items included in our boxes so we need someone with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and stellar negotiation skills.
*This is a full-time position*
You will:
- Develop, source, and execute multiple Box concepts across Home, Kitchen, and Bar categories monthly
- Ideate Box themes, identify new vendors, and pursue business development opportunities
- Plan product ranges and negotiate pricing to optimize margins
- Create and maintain P&Ls for each product and conduct financial analysis
- Collaborate with the Creative team on Box assets including copy, photo, and creative direction
- Work with the planning team to forecast trends
- Work closely with your buying counterparts to create cohesive storytelling across all channels of the business
- Support in developing and overseeing monthly box lanches organizing all relevant information such as samples and purchase order details
- Serve as a bridge between external account representatives and internal teams
- Stay informed about the competitive market and customer preferences, with a focus on selecting products that will thrill our customers
- Attend trade shows periodically to discover new products and connect with vendors
- Be based in our New York City office for 3 days weekly
The ideal candidate:
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in e-commerce, merchandising, sales, or sourcing within non-apparel lifestyle sectors
- Background in working with or passion for home, kitchen, or bar products preferred
- Skilled in negotiation and enjoys sales-oriented roles
- Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong presentation skills, executive presence, and ability to handle pressure gracefully
- Willingness to tackle any task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting goals
- Strategic thinking and ability to drive growth in the Subscription business
- Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for cross-departmental collaboration
- Willingness to adapt and take on new responsibilities as the company evolves
- Passion for product, design, and merchandising.
Bonus points for:
- Direct experience negotiating with suppliers/partners.
- Experience working with in-house private label or white label brands
Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:
- Starting base salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 per year
