Miami-Cass REMC is a not-for-profit electric utility owned by the consumer-members who use the electricity and other services it provides. We are headquartered in Peru, Indiana (just north of US 24 on US 31) and serve Miami, Cass, and part of Wabash counties. We serve more than 6,000 homes, farms, businesses in this area with more than 750 miles of electric power lines. Our mission is to provide our member/owners with cost effective energy and related services, while operating in a manner that positively impacts our community.
Job Description
- Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Filing financial information
- Create periodic financial reports as needed (example: budget to actual)
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Understanding of compliance issues around accounts payable processes
- At least one (1) year of similar office experience in accounts payable
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in accounting preferred
