Product Category Manager at GWA Group

We’re seeking a dynamic Product Category Manager to become a valued member of our Sales team on a 6-month fixed-term contract basis in North Sydney. In this outcome-driven role, you'll hold responsibility for strategically managing one or more of our prominent product portfolios. As a seasoned brand advocate, you fully grasp the potential of brands and possess a forward-thinking mindset that drives exponential growth. The role

As a Product Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our product portfolio. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Execution of GWA Vision/Strategy: You will take ownership of the product portfolio and ensure effective execution of GWA’s vision and strategy. You’ll manage the entire product lifecycle from inception to deletion, including PLC (Product Lifecycle) and NPD (New Product Development) processes.
  • Product Positioning and Value Proposition: You’ll work closely with our Marketing & Sales teams to manage product positioning and develop compelling value propositions for target segments and stakeholders. You’ll understand the technical aspects of our products and align them with the needs of our customers to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • New Business Development: Utilising your expertise in product lifecycle management, new product introduction, and go-to-market strategies, you will drive new business development within our assigned category offerings. You’ll also identify innovative opportunities and strategies to expand our market reach and enhance our competitive advantage.
  • Pipeline Management: You will manage relevant activities to ensure the effective execution of the product pipeline, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to prioritise projects, allocate resources, and meet project deadlines.

About you

Our successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Product Manager, or Brand Manager role. 
  • Experience with consumer-facing brands and working with brand teams, ideally in a B2B/B2C business model.  
  • Supported the development of strategic product innovation roadmaps, and the delivery of the roadmap to consumers and customers across the business. 
  • Experience with goal setting and forecasting; and collection and analysis of data for financial and performance reporting. 
  • Competency in understanding market research, finding implications for brands and their product ranges/ innovation and measuring effectiveness. 
  • Experience managing brand and product assets to support internal training and systems. 
  • An understanding of how to monitor product and competitor activity and trends, and implications on portfolio opportunities. 
  • Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrated capability of P&L management, ROI and deep-dive analysis to unlock insights for product portfolio value growth.
