We are looking for an Industrial Designer to join our Prestons based Design and Innovation team.

This role is offered on a 6-month fixed term contract basis to cover a period of parental leave.

Our Industrial Design function works in collaboration with Design Engineering, Marketing, Product Excellence and Supply throughout the entire development process. Reporting to our Lead Designer, you will work to produce concepts and fully resolved design solutions at the highest level. This position is responsible for the creation of designs from the initiation phase (dream it & state it) through to the (create it) development phase.

As our successful candidate you will (under guidance) actively promote a positive, effective and appropriate design-led culture within GWA. You will proactively research, develop and conceptualise new products and ideas in conjunction with the design team, as well as assisting with developing design methodologies and systems for our business.

It’s a busy and dynamic role where you will provide design input to various functions within GWA; develop project directions and scope; attend seminars/conferences/shows related to the design and bathroom industry; write project briefs and criteria and undertake and facilitate user and human factors research in conjunction with team members.

About you

Along with your 3-5 years previous experience in a similar role, we’d like you to have the following skills and experience:

• Ability to develop ideas/concepts and work seamlessly as part of a multi-talented R&D team to refine ideas into a finished state. Communication and participation are essential to this role.
• Experience using Solid works, or NX and Adobe Creative Suite software with experience in 3D model-making.
• A clear understanding of the design process from concept through to manufacturing and market launch.
• The ability to present ideas and concepts clearly and critique and evaluate work amongst the team.
• A self-starter who can work autonomously

You’ll have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or the equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation, plus experience of working within a customer centric consumer product development company.
