We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our Design and Innovation team based at our Prestons location on a permanent, full-time basis.
Our Design and Innovation team works in collaboration with our Product Excellence, Marketing and Supply functions throughout the entire development process. Reporting to our Head of Design & innovation, you will work to produce concepts and fully resolved design solutions at the highest level. This position is responsible for the creation of designs from the initiation phase (dream it & state it) through to the (create it) development phase.
As our successful candidate you will interpret design intent from design briefs to ensure effective product development and performance of concepts. You’ll quickly develop ideas and concepts into working prototypes for testing and evaluation, and then fully test them to prove design integrity. You’ll create and develop ideas and concept detailed designs and 3D CAD models, as well as co-ordinating all technical research related to, or required for the development of, new product or technology concepts.
There’s a project management aspect to this role and as such you’ll manage new products from concept to in-market within planned timeframes. You’ll also liaise with our Product Excellence, Marketing and Supply teams to ensure the effective implementation of products into production and delivery to market.
About you
Along with your 5+ years previous experience in a similar role, it would be great if you had the following skills and experience:
You’ll be naturally curious and actively seek and identify current and emerging industry design trends, technologies, regulatory changes, competitor activity and best practice that may directly impact on product design and development. You’ll be keen to report back on the impact of those trends and provide recommendations on potential opportunities & solutions.
Finally, you’ll be a 3D CAD advanced user (SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer or Autodesk Inventor) and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of hand-on experience, training or professional accreditation.
What’s on offer?
Aside from a supportive, collaborative culture where you’ll be set up for success and know that you’re making a real difference from day one, we’ll also offer you:
As well as other great benefits like discounted health insurance, financial advice, annual flu vaccinations, access to a range of online fitness programs via our Wellbeing Centre...and much more!
