The Menominee Mill (located in Menominee, Michigan), produces high-quality recycled bleached kraft pulp annually for manufacturers of uncoated free sheet, commercial and away-from-home tissue, and coated paper in the United States.

The Shift Tester position will conduct quality assurance testing, assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.  Candidates must be flexible and willing to move, with notice, to work with all four crews as needed. This is a full-time position, on a twelve (12) hour rotating shift. 

The Shift Tester will:

• Maintain quality within customer specs.
• Understand all required final product sampling procedures, including freeness and kappa.
• Perform accurately all required final product tests and procedures.
• Understand the different pulp quality grading structures and customer pulp quality specifications and requirements.
• Communicate with all those responsible for decision-making relating to pulp quality.
• Use data information systems to input final product testing data.
• Use data information systems to retrieve data, logs, trends, and other information.
• Give assistance during pulp machine downs and thread-ups.
• Maintain housekeeping in designated areas.
• Operate a forklift truck according to safety rules and policies.
• Report any damaged or unsafe equipment/conditions.
• Report all accidents and incidents immediately, no matter how minor.

Candidates are required to have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  Candidates should have prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. 

Successful applicants need to be self-directed individuals and must possess excellent trouble shooting/problem solving skills as well as good written and oral skills.  Must be professional and able to work both independently and as part of our team.  Candidates should have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, quality orientation, attention to detail, math skills and lab techniques.
