About the team

The Public Policy and Operations Team within Government Relations navigates the complex interplay between policy formulation and operational execution. The team analyzes regulatory mandates, engages internal partners, and crafts actionable policy strategies to support Zillow’s priorities. By encouraging collaboration and consensus-building, the Team ensures that policy initiatives reflect the needs of the consumer while upholding principles of Zillow’s mission of “turning the lights on”!

About the role

As a Public Policy Associate, you will play a vital role in supporting Zillow's public policy initiatives by conducting policy research and analysis, coordinating policy-related activities, legislative and regulatory monitoring, and providing essential support to the Government Relations team. The role reports to the Public Policy and Operations Director, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategies. We are seeking a candidate with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for staying informed about legislative and regulatory developments impacting Zillow Group’s mission and priorities!

Policy Analysis Support:

  • Research and analyze legislative proposals, regulatory actions, and policy trends.
  • Draft summaries, memos, and reports on policy issues, summarizing key findings and implications for Zillow Group.
  • Contribute to the development of policy recommendations and advocacy strategies based on research and analysis.

Policy Coordination:

  • Focus on issues related to tax policy, data privacy, access to information and other policy issues emerging and important to Zillow’s priorities.
  • Support the coordination of policy-related activities, such as meetings, hearings, and briefings, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing materials for policy discussions, including agendas, presentations, and background research.

Legislative & Regulatory Monitoring:

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels relevant to Zillow's interests.
  • Track bills, resolutions, and regulations related to key policy areas, identifying potential opportunities and risks.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of legislative and regulatory activity, including bill summaries, status updates, and key deadlines.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from internal partners regarding policy positions and legislative and regulatory analysis.
  • Communicate updates on policy initiatives to internal stakeholders through various channels.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the effective functioning of the government relations team.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $93,900.00 - $150,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Bachelors + 5 years of related experience, or equivalent.
  • Experiencing supporting public policy and legislative and regulatory affairs, with knowledge of legislative processes and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work output, especially when tracking legislative activity and maintaining databases.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with legislative tracking software, such as Quorum, or databases is preferred.
