Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Trading Platform Engineer to join the Trading Platform Engineering Team. Reporting into the Trading Platform Engineering Team Lead, the role will be responsible for helping to establish processes and improvements that will enhance AJBell’s trading platform through the strategic book of work and develop the team into a mature engineering function. Where appropriate, the role will also be responsible for providing support on incidents that are escalated by the Application Support Manager/Team.
What does the job involve?
- Identify and deliver improvement initiatives for both systematic and operational functions.
- Provide solutions to operational processes liaising with the Application Support team
- Attendance and input into Change Meetings.
- Varied involvement in projects relating to the trading platform. Both as an SME and occasionally as a team member to help deliver work packages.
- Where required, involvement in releases to help support and implement more complex releases with important functionality, such as core software upgrades.
- Working directly with users/project managers in order to guide requests through the correct process/channels.
- Co-ordination with users in regards to owned change
- Providing cover for other team members as required.
- Training members of the Application Support team when new processes/applications are rolled out.

Knowledge & Skills
- Foundation to intermediate understanding of a database language, DB2 SQL, MySQL, MongoDb etc.
- Foundation knowledge of iSeries (IBMi) system administration.
- A good understanding of the Financial Services industry.
- Experience working within a Change and Release framework
- Intermediate level of Unix skills
- Intermediate level scripting languages i.e. CL, Bash, Powershell
- Foundation level understanding of cloud concepts.
- Foundation level understanding of IAC
