Are you a high-performer who wants to contribute to a mission-driven and values-based organization? If you are motivated by doing impactful work and making a difference in people’s lives, then the Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is the place for you. At the IUF, we believe in making the dream of higher education attainable, providing support for life-changing research, and preparing the next generation of leaders.
As a trailblazer among our peers, we provide fundraising leadership and endowment stewardship to support needs and initiatives across all of Indiana University’s campuses. As part of our team, you will help make IU donors' dreams last forever.
At the IUF we work hard, celebrate achievements, and foster an environment where everyone’s contributions matter. We are nimble and innovative, and we want you to bring your ideas and energy to join forces with some of the best talent in our industry.
In addition to being part of a meaningful mission as an IUF employee, you’ll find there are many ways to connect and collaborate. Our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives ensure that our colleagues are celebrated for who they are and have a voice. Our FUNdation (see what we did there?) Committee helps us connect and unwind with food truck lunches, holiday gatherings, costume contests, free snacks, IU spirit-wear Fridays, and spontaneous gestures that surprise and delight. Our Wellness Committee ensures that the health and well-being of our employees is top of mind, offering yoga, a lunchtime walking group, meditation breaks, the Headspace app, and topical workshops. We encourage community leadership and service and make space for our staff to pursue their passions. Our total rewards philosophy ensures that we support employees financially, emotionally, and in their career growth.
If the IUF sounds like a fit for you, we invite you to join us today.
The salary range for this role is $80,000-$90,000 and relocation is available if required.
This position is located on the IU South Bend (IUSB) Campus in South Bend, Indiana. It is a mobile role (requires primarily regional travel to meet with donors/friends of the University, with a mix of on-campus and remote work when not traveling.)
IU South Bend is our region’s only comprehensive, public University. In 1967, IU South Bend conferred its first degrees. Since then, campus has grown to approximately 4,500 students, offering nearly 100 degree programs, six varsity sports teams, campus housing, study abroad programs, and extensive career services to foster students and catapult them into their career. More than 70% of IUSB students receive scholarships or financial aid to help make college possible. IU South Bend alumni serve as teachers and principals in our local schools, IT and business professionals who help drive our local economy, and public servants, social workers, health care professionals, and community leaders making a difference in the lives of our community members every day. The IU Foundation is seeking a new Director of Development to capture the energy and progress on campus and deliver that message to donors and friends of the University. This role reports to the AVP of Development, Regional Campuses-IU Foundation, with a dotted line to the Vice Chancellor for University Relations and Advancement, and in close partnership with the Chancellor of IU South Bend. We’re seeking a true, intentional collaborator: someone who is excited to get to know the students, faculty, administration, and community, and be an engaged contributor who brings people together to foster success at IUSB.
Fundraising for the future of IUSB may be your primary responsibility in this role, but success is dependent on a collective effort. Being a leader who can curate a culture of philanthropy by building bridges from donors, alumni, and friends of the University to the IUSB campus community is essential. You’ll have the partnership of peers in Advancement, Alumni Relations, and Communications, and Marketing, as well as faculty, staff, and students across the campus. You will secure funds for scholarships, health and wellness, wraparound retention support programs, facility improvements, athletic programs, and more. With a commitment and passion for public education, you’ll find success and impact many lives through the relationships you cultivate and strengthen at IU South Bend.
The Director of Development will secure philanthropic support and strategic direction for a comprehensive and coordinated development program that includes all aspects of fundraising, including annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, and major and principal gifts. A large majority of your work will focus on cultivating relationships with major gift donors, utilizing the campus’ internal resources and IU Foundation services to ensure a comprehensive and donor-centered advancement program that leads to at least 10 major gift proposals of $50k+ each year.
By building long-term relationships with donors, business leaders, and other friends of the University, you’ll ‘Bring on Tomorrow,’ creating new opportunities for IU South Bend students for many years to come!
