National Grid touches the lives of almost everyone, with an energy network that stretches across the Atlantic. We’re an international team, and our work underpins the lives of millions of people. Feet forwards, head up, and eyes bright, we’re working hard to create value for people today – and shape the future of energy tomorrow.
In the UK, we don’t generate or sell energy – we join the dots to get energy from A to B. From making a cup of tea in the morning, to keeping the lights on in hospitals, our electricity network puts power in the hands of people. Without it, the world as we know it would grind to a halt.
The world of energy is changing beyond recognition. Working at National Grid, you won’t just be touching the lives of almost everyone in the UK – you’ll be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.
We are looking for a driven and knowledgeable Compensation Manager to join our Global People and Culture team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.
Directing the on-going review and development of the UK Compensation Strategy, you will ensure integration of the strategy within overall HR and regional policies to achieve and support business objectives. You’ll design and implement the UK policy for annual salary and cash bonus awards, ensuring we are competitive in the marketplace whilst also being internally equitable and consistent with global reward policies that align with regulations.
You’ll support HRBPs and UK business managers on compensation in order to encourage effective, joint up reward practices that deliver the organisations vision, values, and ways of working.
You’ll conduct analysis and metrics required for decision making, including timely data input to Price Control reviews, collective bargaining, and value for money reviews of employee compensation.
You’ll look to maximise visibility and value of effective reward strategies, policies, and processes by providing effective compensation communications materials and advice.
As this role is part of our Global People and Culture team, we’re happy for the role to be based in either our London or Warwick office. We also have a hybrid working approach with circa 2 days in the office per week.
What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, you have considerable experience providing compensation management, ideally within a large, global, or utility sector organisation.
You have:
A competitive salary between £62,000 – £85,000 per annum – dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
