We are now looking for a Regional Logistics Manager.  The Regional Logistics Manager is tasked with overseeing logistics and distribution operations across various internal and external sites within their region, focusing on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in fleet operations and employee management. They will devise and implement strategies to align logistics with current business needs, assess modal options, fleet sizing, and outsourcing decisions, as well as manage steel mill and spent pickle liquor operations. Additionally, this role involves creating and managing operational and capital budgets, enforcing cost control best practices, analyzing financial statements, and driving operational savings. The position requires regular collaboration with supply chain management, rail logistics, product managers, and the commercial sales team to ensure cohesive operations.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee operational safety and compliance for all personnel, ensuring adherence to both regulatory and internal standards, and manage the documentation, training, and development for regulated transportation and other internal requirements.
  • Maintain and manage fleet equipment, ensuring it is compliant, inspected, and maintained according to regulations, and oversee the performance and safety of fleet drivers while promoting continuous improvement through key performance indicators.
  • Supervise transportation planning and operations at terminals, coordinating with both internal and external carriers, and monitor third-party terminal operations, addressing issues like railcar dwelling with the supply chain management team.
  • Implement cost control measures for designated cost centers, conduct financial reviews, and develop and manage operational budgets.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team including drivers, administrative support, transportation planners, mechanics, and terminal operators, and address personnel performance through coaching and performance development discussions (PDDs).
  • Ensure the accuracy and completion of daily, weekly, and monthly SAP processing, address SAP issues, conduct regular safety engagements such as safety walks and talks, manage incident cases, and hold at least six safety meetings annually.
  • Drive logistics optimization initiatives, including evaluating and implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency.

 

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Minimum 10-years of experience in logistics industry
  • 2 years minimum experience in rail-to-truck transloading operations
  • 3 to 5 years minimum of transportation planning
  • Strong safety mindset and Solid understanding of transportation planning strategies
  • Understanding of fleet equipment and maintenance requirements 
  • Proficient in interpreting and implementing transportation regulation regulations
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to manage local and remote personnel
  • Competent in analytics and financial reviews
  • Able to balance multiple tasks at one time
