Job Descrption

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen at Heysham 2 Power Station to join our Fuel Route Department.  This is a key role in the Fuel Route Lead Team and involves leading and motivating a small and talented team (including EDF staff and contract engineers) to deliver high standards of work to ensure the station delivers its business objectives and contribute to powering the UK.

 

The Opportunity

 

At Heysham 2, our Fuel Route (FR) TAG Engineers ensure that our reactors are refuelled and remain complaint with statutory requirements under our site licence conditions – it’s a really important job!  We do this by managing the movement of both fuel and non-fuel components to and from our two reactors and we are central to achieving our business objectives.

 

Pay, Benefits and Culture

 

We’re offering a salary of £40,069 – £84,892 along with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualification. We also offer an attractive pension scheme along with some great company benefits!  This is a full-time position, however we will be happy to discuss options regarding part time flexibility, if you would like to highlight this on your application.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Provide engineering oversight and technical support to a team of craft technicians to deliver plant repairs. 
  • Ensure station documentation and drawings are maintained and accurately reflect design and configuration changes. 
  • Supervise plant-facing work from a front-line, hands-on team leader standpoint. 
  • Make independent engineering decisions to ensure the effective maintenance of workflow. 
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures and safety rules. 
  • Ensure the medium to long term equipment reliability of assigned systems. 
  • Where plant issues are identified, provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshoot activities and ensure robust corrective actions are in place to resolve issues and prevent reoccurrence. 
  • Ensure that work completed complies with the Station Quality Manual and prescribed service levels, standards, and targets are being met.
  • Maintain your knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. 
  • Support the Fuel Route department with emergent issues as required. 
  • Proactively use OPEX (Operating Experience) to promote learning within the organisation. 

 

Who you are

 

  • Do you have proven experience of leading a team to deliver exceptional performance within company processes?
  • Do you have industrial and operational engineering experience with a strong safety bias?
  • Are you an engineer with a drive to identify and resolve risks with a focus on safety, quality, time and cost?
  • Do you have the ability to think dynamically, balancing multiple priorities and making decisions to achieve the best outcome?
  • Do you have experience of working within regulatory requirements such as PSSR (2000), the Nuclear Site License, or other such frameworks?
  • Do you have an engineering based qualification at HNC level or equivalent? (Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.)
  • Would you like to work with other like-minded people to achieve safe, reliable performance of plant systems on a complex Nuclear Power Station?

Interviews to be held week commencing Monday May 27th 

 

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.

 

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
