A Typical Day
The Visitors Center Tour Guide is responsible for greeting customers and provide excellent tours of all types to convey the messages of Hilmar Cheese Company and the dairy industry.
Job Responsibilities
Positive, friendly and outgoing
Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the agriculture and dairy industries
Excellent presenter/teacher to convey information using a variety of tactics appropriate for the group
Can guide groups and individuals in a public environment
Competent team member to facilitate multiple tours at one time
Address questions positively
Respond to customer concerns or properly direct for a response
Provide excellent and friendly customer service
Demonstrates basic numeric understanding, accurately count money, collect money and provide correct change from a sale
Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe work environment
Understands first in, first out rotation to ensure freshness of products
Answer Visitors Center phone with proper phone etiquette
Manage time wisely and handle multiple tasks
Exemplify good attitude
Perform operations in a consistent repeatable fashion
Follow written and verbal direction
Be an effective part of a team
Responsible for constant improvement of customer service
Have availability of 20 hours per week
Will cross-train as Visitor Center Staff (see job description)
Annual completion of OSHA required safety training.
Safe and proper use of the equipment
Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.
Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
Participate in departmental safety teams.
Promote Company Culture
Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments.
What You Will Need
English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
Food Handler Certification (within 30 days of employment)
Must be able to work weekends
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
What Will Put You Ahead
Public speaking experience through a job, 4-H or FFA
Experience working with children
Experience with a cash register
Basic computer experience to complete online forms
