Job Description

Primary Function of Position 

The Sr Manager, Vision Product Engineering drives engineers to enhance endoscopes, lighting modules, and image processing units. They examine data to improve designs and manufacturing. This role supports decision-making for new and existing products.

Essential Job Duties 

The Sr Manager, Vision Product Engineering will examine data from current Endoscope field use to improve product reliability, quality, and cost. This technical management position guides and mentors a product engineering team in revising product designs, improving manufacturing processes, and creating control documentation. The Product Engineering team collaborates with Design and Manufacturing teams to implement product improvements worldwide.

  • Coach, develop, and manage the engineering team with influential leadership. Balance team development with organizational needs.
  • Work with Intuitive teams to prioritize and complete projects for quality, efficiency, and customer feedback.
  • Study the data from current products in the field to find trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering team to ensure compliance with GMP, DHF, and DHR guidelines per FDA regulations. Support design reviews per product development procedures.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Track record of leading and developing sustainable teams
  • Manage a team in different regions, coordinate across time zones with limited overlap, and manage cultural differences.
  • Ability to collect and study data, turn it into a story, and write an ending to improve outcomes.
  • Ability to translate data into clear goals and actions for team. Improving products for customers efficiently.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Engineering discipline, M.S. preferred.
  • A minimum 1-3 years’ experience managing an engineering team.
  • A minimum 8-10 years’ experience in design, manufacturing, or service environment for complex electro-mechanical products.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in medical device manufacturing/field data analytics
  • Proven quantitative process development skills including (p)FMEA, tolerance scrutiny, DoE, SPC, GR&R, and CpK
  • Excellent organizational skills; Able to manage multiple fast-paced projects
  • Prior experience with Agile Change Control and SAP
  • Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment
