As the Head of Internal Communications, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our internal communication strategy. You will be responsible for developing and executing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, promote company culture, and ensure consistent messaging across all internal channels. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Main responsibilities
Developing & implementing the Internal Comms strategy:
Create a comprehensive internal communication strategy aligned with company goals and values.
Define key audiences within the business and develop communications strategies to communicate effectively across all.
Identify key communication objectives and develop tactics to achieve them.
Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
Content Creation and Distribution:
Produce engaging content for various internal channels, and develop new communication channels to meet the needs of the team and business
Ensure that all communication materials are clear, consistent, and aligned with the company's brand voice and messaging.
Develop calendars and communication plans to ensure timely and relevant content delivery.
Employee Engagement and Feedback:
Support with the delivery of key strategic projects and events, both in-office and remote.
Solicit feedback from employees through surveys, focus groups, and other channels to assess communication effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Develop strategies to address employee concerns, boost morale, and recognise achievements.
Change Management Communication:
Support leadership in communicating organisational changes, initiatives, and strategic priorities to employees.
Develop communication plans for change initiatives, including timelines, key messages, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Provide guidance and support to managers and team leaders to ensure effective communication with their teams during periods of change.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with the People team, Marketing, Brand, Operations and other departments to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.
Partner with IT to leverage technology solutions for improving internal communication platforms and tools.
Work closely with senior leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable communication strategies.
Line Management and team development:
Grow and develop team members across the core functions of the internal comms team, ensuring career development opportunities for all
Take ownership of recruitment, hiring high and ensuring all skills gaps are filled
Requirements
We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:
Relevant qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other related field
Proven experience in leading internal comms within large & growing organisations, with a track record of developing and implementing successful IC strategies
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and compelling manner and the ability to shape and own a narrative
Experience in change management communication and employee engagement initiatives
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, cooperative mindset
